a response to photoglyph: It does seem very pointless to add people at random if you're not going to speak to them as it will lead you nowhere. Except I don't think that there's really a problem with bands doing it. It's self-promotion. It's just like handing out flyers on the street except more effective because you get to hear the music. Regular people who do this are probably trying to look like they have more friends than they actually do, which if they gave about two minutes of in depth though, they would realise is absolutely ridiculous. When bands do it, it's just like an advertisement. I know that it can get annoying having tons of add requests from bands except no one should throw a shit fit. It's not like a telemarketer calling us during supper or a Jehovs's Witness pestering you at the door. Simply click accept or deny. It wouldn't hurt anyone to give the bands who add you a quick listen just to make sure you're not missing out on anything except I understand if you don't feel morally obligated to. MySpace, Buzznet, and whatever other internet communities there are are probably the least annoying place for advertisements to show up. And in this present day and age, they are going to have to show up somewhere. At least, that's my opinion.
